Tortoiseshell And White Persian Cat


The classic Tortoiseshell’s black and red (or its dilute colors) are offset by patches of dazzling white, as long as the cat is well and frequently groomed. In America this variety is called a Calico after printed calico (cotton).

The English version of this name was Chintz, but this is no longer used. The American standard requires well defined patches of color, but in the United Kingdom, any degree of white is acceptable, from some on all four legs, chest and belly, to the van pattern.

Tortie and Whites occur in as many different color combinations as the Tortoiseshells themselves. This is a dilute color – Blue Tortie (Blue Cream) and White.

A black Tortie and White displays well mingled markings, clearly defined white patches, and an exceptionally fine longhaired coat.

However, the Tortoiseshell and White Persian cats are a unique variation of this particular breed. They are best known by the name Calico cats in America. The best way to describe its coat is that it consist of black and red patches all over its head. Meanwhile, the underparts of the body consist mostly of white coat. In most cases, there are three colors combined in the coat, which includes cream to add to red and black. A more rare color combination in this breed will have chocolate color in its coat instead of black.

However, they will show kindness only to people who care and show kindness towards them, too. They are generally calm and tranquil, so they prefer to lounge in a comfortable spot than be active in an outdoor environment. This is also a common characteristic amongst other Persian cat varieties, which is also why they are highly domesticated. It is highly sociable towards other cat varieties as well, so they rarely take their claws out.
